Abstract: In recent years, with the economic recovery of the coal industry, the design of coal mining area has become one of the key technologies of coal enterprises. The design of coal mining area means that enterprises can rationally plan the scope of mining area and the size of coal pillars, and arrange the working face, roadway and chamber according to the design requirements for safe and green intelligent mining of coal resources. In this paper, the layout of roadway and chamber in the first mining area of thick and soft coal seam in Wuju Coal Mine is precisely designed, and the economic evaluation of the design content is carried out. There are a total of 3 layers of mineable coal seams, and a total of 30 working faces are arranged, and corresponding to the working face and coal seam, the bottom turning yard, belt conveyor dark slope, return air dark slope and underground dark slope are arranged. The final design production capacity is 3 million t/a, and the design service life is 14.2a.
